About this work
The Nets by Claude Monet shows a group of ropes lying across a stretch of sand. The scene uses broken blue and grey strokes to build the waterline and the dry ground beside it. The paint looks worked over, with layers laid one on top of another.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The paper stays matte, so the blue-grey water tones do not glare. A light frame can go on a darker surface, or a wood frame can sit beside wooden furniture in the room.
In a hallway, you notice the rope shapes first, then the pale sand colour behind them. The eye moves along the line of nets from the door.
