About this work
The Olive Branch 2004 shows a single branch shape laid across an open field. Louise Bourgeois drew it with a loose hand, letting the line wander and thicken where the pencil pressed harder. The paper keeps a matte feel, so the quieter passages stay soft under room light.
A light frame sits on a pale wall and picks up the wood tones in a nearby shelf. The print is offered as a fine art piece and the finish can follow the room, so the frame and wall talk to each other instead of standing apart.
On a hall wall at chest height the branch reads as a long quiet mark. You notice the slower drawn parts first, then the thin gaps where the pencil lifted.
