About this work
The Rose Marble Table 1917 shows a table top with a soft rose ground and clear outlines. Flat colour areas sit against a plain background without much depth. Henri Matisse used steady drawing to hold the shapes together. The marks stay visible when you move up close.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The paper keeps the rose tones soft and the outlines stay sharp. The frame holds the sheet flat and the back panel covers the rear.
It reads well above a low desk under a single lamp. From the door the rose ground and table edge stay clear, and the outlines hold the layout together.
