About this work
The Rose Path in Giverny runs along a garden walk edged with soft pink blooms. Claude Monet once laid paint in quick strokes to catch changes in sunlight. You see the path curving past the flowers, with colour laid in broken touches rather than smooth shading.
A light frame on a dark wall keeps the pinks readable, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture lets the path blend in. A fine art print on matte paper holds the broken colour without a shine under a lamp. The marks stay separate, so the garden reads as a patchwork of colour.
In a bedroom over the bed, the eye moves along the path from the window to the far corner. In the morning you notice the pink blooms first, then the darker leaves, then the open path ahead.
