The Simplon. Large Rocks by John Singer Sargent

The Simplon. Large Rocks shows a rocky slope with broad strokes of cool grey and a touch of warm stone colour. The paint sits on the paper in loose layers that follow the shape of the ground.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. A metal hanger is fitted to the back and slides straight onto a wall nail or screw, so you do not need a frame. The matte paper keeps the grey tones quiet and the rock shapes stay clear.

It works on a bedroom wall near the ceiling, where you notice the rough paint edges first and the cool tones settle the room at night.
