About this work
The Swan No 17 1915 0 uses pale watercolour washes over pencil outlines. Hilma af Klint built many of her drawings from this mix of soft colour and fine line. The subject is a bird form, drawn with simple curves and a few filled shapes.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The matte paper keeps the pale tones even under a lamp, and the thin lines stay readable at a short distance.
Hang it at eye level in a hallway with natural light from a side window. From a few steps away the bird shape reads first. Up close you see the pencil sketch underneath the colour.
