The Third Hand — Fine Art

The Third Hand by Hans Hofmann shows a free arrangement of painted marks. Bright areas push against darker ground on the sheet. A third motion enters the picture between the first two. The fine art print uses matte paper so the paint layers stay flat and the light does not bounce off the surface. A light frame on a dark wall pulls the painted areas forward. A dark frame on a pale wall gives the sheet its own room.
