About this work
Trademarck 2 1962 places a painted word on a plain field, with the letters set in a steady hand. The mark runs as a single band of tone, and the edges stay even from start to end. Edward Ruscha works with text as subject, and the picture follows that habit of sign painting.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The sheet arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger on the back that goes straight onto a nail. You do not need to buy a frame.
In a kitchen with pale cabinets, the word reads from the table as you set down a cup. The plane of the wall takes the lettering, and the flat band of colour holds its shape against the room.
