About this work
A treetop rises against a high brick wall in Treetop Seen against the Wall of the Asylum. Thick paint strokes build the leaves and the rough wall surface. The sky behind the branches stays plain and open. Vincent van Gogh worked with oil on canvas in this period and made the marks with a loaded brush.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. The print sits on a paper sheet with a matte finish, so the green leaves read without a shine. A light frame on a dark wall keeps the picture clear, and a dark frame on a pale wall sets it apart.
It works on a dining room wall near a hanging lamp. From the table you see the leaves and the wall shape, and from the door the plain sky sits behind the branches.
