About this work
Tsunagagia - 1962 by Hiroyuki Tajima uses a band of dark marks on a light ground. The darker tones hold the lower line while the higher marks leave more space around them. The contrast gives the picture a quiet pull. Hiroyuki Tajima worked with clear shapes and a steady colour plan in his graphic prints.
The fine art print keeps the flat tones and the plain joins of the original line work. The paper takes the ink with no shine, so the greyer parts stay separate from the lighter ones. Pick a wall where the room light falls evenly across it.
Hang the fine art print on the tall wall at the end of a hall. From the far bend you see the broad dark band first, then the thin marks as you walk nearer.
