Under the Pines by Henri — Fine Art

Green and blue patches cover the pines in Under the Pines. Henri-Edmond Cross laid the paint in small separate touches, so each patch sits beside the next one without blending. The tree shapes read through these colour blocks, and the ground holds a cooler tone below them.

A fine art print carries the same separate strokes on matte paper, so the green and blue patches stay flat and the surface does not shine under a lamp. A light frame keeps the pale ground open, and a dark frame lets the blue patches stand apart on a pale wall.

It sits on a bedroom wall near the closet, where the morning light falls across the tree shapes. From the doorway you notice the small blue marks first, then the green patches lower down.
