Untitled — Fine Art

Untitled - 1962 shows colour planes set beside one another on a plain ground. The edges stay clean and the paint holds a steady tone.

The picture comes from the hard edge painting movement in post war American art. The fine art print keeps the flat colour bands clear on a matte sheet without shine.

The frame finish can follow the room, a light frame on a dark wall or a dark frame on a pale wall. You notice the hard edge colour planes from the doorway in a dining room, the dark frame standing out against the pale wall.
