Dark bands of colour sit on a flat ground in Untitled 1964 1. The marks do not blend. Each tone keeps its own edge against the next.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. This is the colouristic abstraction practice Gotthard Graubner worked in. The print comes in a white frame, a wood frame, a dark wood frame or a black frame. The frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall.

The white finish keeps the field open. The black finish holds the dark bands in place. You see it from the far end of a corridor. The tones settle into the space on either side.
