About this work
Untitled - 1964 by Ray Parker shows a painted field with soft colour and hard edges. The image sits flat against the paper, with paint laid in even layers. You can follow the brush marks across the surface.
The fine art print uses matte paper, so the colours stay soft and there is no shine under a lamp. The frame finish can follow the room, with a light frame on a dark wall or a dark frame on a pale wall. Wood frames sit well beside wooden furniture.
It works well in a dining room on the wall beside the table. From the doorway you see the flat colour first, then the edge where the paint stops. Ray Parker built his shapes with clear boundaries.
