About this work
A single broad mark runs across the sheet in Untitled 1972 by Taro Yamamoto. The stroke begins with firm pressure and thins as the hand moves faster. The surface shows the drag of the brush and a few dry breaks.
This is a fine art print on matte paper. The surface absorbs light, so the greys stay soft and there is no shine under a lamp. A dark frame on a pale wall lets the mark stand out without drawing attention to itself.
It hangs on the kitchen wall near the sink. From the table you see the full sweep of the stroke. Step closer and the small rough spots in the paint become clear.
