About this work
Untitled - 1973 holds a broad field of thin wash laid by Helen Frankenthaler. The paint soaks into the sheet and leaves soft colour lines where the wet edges met the paper. Broad colour wash runs across the sheet in uneven bands.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang. A metal hanger is fitted to the back and goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The matte paper keeps the thin washes looking even, so the light colour does not shine back under a lamp.
You see the broad colour wash from the kitchen doorway. The thin bands sit on the wall above the counter. From the table you notice the soft edge fields, while the open colour field stays wide. A soak stain method painting on a working wall.
