Untitled SF 61-012 by Sam Francis opens on a white field where colour washes spread and leave space around them. The painted areas sit apart, and the thin gaps show the paper underneath. The artist works in open colour washes and post war abstract painting practice.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The white frame finish sits around the open washes and leaves the pale ground clear. A wood finish warms the thin paint layers. A dark wood frame gives a firm line to the soft marks.

On a bedroom wall the pale field stays soft under a low lamp. From the foot of the bed the broad colour areas read as blocks. Near the side of the bed the thin gaps show the paper.
