Uranus — Fine Art

Broad painted strokes move across the sheet in Uranus - 1974. The marks lean and overlap, leaving gaps of lighter ground between them. Norman Bluhm worked with fast brushwork and a loose build of paint during this period, and the image follows that way of painting.

The frame for this fine art piece is finished in white, wood, dark wood or black. A white frame keeps the pale ground clear at the edge. A black frame sets the darker strokes apart.

Hang it in a hall with a single bulb overhead. The painted strokes read as dark lines against the pale ground, and the frame edge keeps the image separate from the plaster. From the stair you see the whole painted field, and up close the brush crossings stay loose.
