Vase of Flowers 12 shows a vase holding a loose cluster of blooms on the page. Petals and leaves sit in soft patches of charcoal and pastel. The stems drift without a hard outline. Odilon Redon worked with this symbolist flower painting habit, building tone by layering marks rather than drawing every edge.

The picture arrives as a fine art print in a frame with a clean white edge. That white band separates the image from the wall and keeps the pale petal patches from washing out. The frame gives the paper a firm line so the soft colour patches stay readable.
