Vase of Flowers 4 — Fine Art

A vase of flowers titled Vase of Flowers 4 by Odilon Redon sits on a simple surface with petals drawn in soft charcoal and pastel marks. The blooms gather near the neck of the vessel and the leaves spread without a busy background.

The fine art piece uses a matte paper that keeps the charcoal greys muted and the pastel colour patches flat instead of glossy. A light frame can sit on a darker wall or a wood frame can rest beside wooden furniture, so the frame finish can follow the room.

On a kitchen wall above the sink the eye reads the vase first, then the small pencil lines around each petal. From the doorway the group of flowers stays simple and the pale ground stays quiet.
