Village, 1951- by Helen Frankenthaler opens on a broad field of thin paint laid across an open ground. The marks move in loose bands rather than sharp lines. Shapes drift across the surface with soft edges. Some areas run into one another where the wash meets the page.

This fine art print uses a white frame finish. The white edge keeps a clean line around the image and does not pull the eye away from the open paint areas.

On a hall wall with a small lamp, the pale wash holds together from the far end of the corridor, and the thin edges show as you pass by.
