About this work
Where Euclide Walked 1955 draws the eye to a few spaced marks on a plain ground. The title suggests a measured walk through plain space, and the image keeps that feeling with a small number of forms and a lot of open area.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. Rene Magritte often placed solid shapes in quiet fields, leaving room for the eye to move. The black frame gives the image a sharp edge on the wall, so the plain ground stays open and the marks do not drift off the sheet.
Matte paper holds the soft areas without shine, which suits the quiet field. It works on a narrow hallway wall where the light falls across the surface and the spaced marks stay clear before a doorway.
