About this work
A bright circle sits near the top on a plain ground. White Sun-Mound - 1963 uses simple shapes to hold the eye. The work follows the abstract painting habit of Theodoros Stamos, where a few marks do most of the work.
A fine art sheet covers the image on matte paper. The paper keeps the circle from looking sharp, so the tone stays even. A light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture follows the room. The surface takes the light without shine.
It fits above the reading chair across the kitchen from the window. From the doorway you see the round shape first, then the open field. The plain ground gives the room a rest.
