About this work
White stone piers hold up a long concrete arch in Whitestone Bridge - 1940. The water below is a quiet grey band. Ralston Crawford painted the bridge as clean bands of colour with sharp edges, the way he worked on other city and industrial pictures.
This fine art print comes with a frame in white, wood, dark wood or black. The frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. A black frame keeps the grey water low and lets the arch stand out.
On a kitchen wall across from the stove, the arch leads the eye toward the sink. From the table you see the straight piers first, then the bridge curve above them.
