Richard Pousette-Dart was an American Abstract Expressionist painter and one of the youngest original members of the New York School, known for his dense, jewel-like canvases of shimmering dots and spirals that evoke cosmic energy, spiritual light, and the inner life of matter. His contemplative, richly worked paintings occupy a uniquely mystical space in American abstraction.
