Wassily Kandinsky
Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist widely credited as the pioneer of abstract art, whose Compositions and Improvisations - vibrant, music-inspired explosions of colour and form - represent some of the first purely non-representational works in Western art. His foundational book Concerning the Spiritual in Art remains a cornerstone of modern art theory.
