About this work

August Light

August Light by Hans Hofmann sets bright colour against a darker ground. The eye enters where the warm shapes meet cooler tones. Empty space around the edges keeps the picture open.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface lets the colour stay clear without a shine under a lamp.

It fits a stairwell wall where the light changes through the day. From the bottom you see the colour blocks first. From the top the empty space stands out.
