About this work
Blue 47
A cobalt storm swirls across the canvas in Blue 47. Sam Francis creates a world of controlled chaos, where splattered ink and bold strokes of blue dominate the composition. The painting feels like a moment frozen in time, a snapshot of energy and emotion captured on a stark white background.
The artwork is a symphony of blue hues, from the deepest navy to the lightest sky blue. Francis employs a variety of techniques, including splattering, dripping, and brushing, to create a sense of movement and dynamism. The white spaces serve as pauses in the visual rhythm, allowing the eye to rest amidst the flurry of blue.
This poster brings a sense of calm and contemplation to a study or library, where the mind can wander and explore the depths of blue.
