Composition I

Composition I - 1949 by Gene Davis sets a row of vertical color bands down the sheet. Each band is a single flat color, and the edges stay sharp. The eye enters at the top band and moves down the stack. Some bands are wide and some are narrow. The gaps between them stay empty, so the colors do not blend.

The fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel. You can order it assembled with the ready to hang option. The frame keeps the bands tight and the back panel covers the raw edge.

It fits a hallway wall where a person walks past in the morning. From that distance the bands read as blocks of color. The narrow gaps between them stay clear under the hallway light.
