Conversion — Fine Art

Conversion by Robert Ryman uses a plain ground with painted bands and marks placed at different edges. The paint sits on the surface and leaves soft edges where the brush lifts. A reader sees the quiet arrangement first as a set of shifts, not a single shape.

The work arrives as a fine art print set in a frame, with a back panel. The matte paper keeps the grey tones even and the frame sits flat against the wall.

It sits above a desk beside a stack of books. At mid distance the bands read as a steady field, and the small marks stay visible from a normal chair.
