Landscape 1930 — Fine Art

Landscape 1930 by Andre Derain gives a tree-lined view with sky and earth in broad flat colours. The shapes stand apart, each one painted in a clear block of tone. A quiet afternoon scene settles across the sheet.

The fine art print uses a matte sheet, so the flat colour blocks stay even and there is no shine under a lamp. A light frame can sit on a dark wall, or a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.

It hangs on the stair landing wall, where the broad colour blocks are easy to read from the bottom step. You notice the separate painted fields of green and blue as you walk past.
