Reefs

The title Reefs points to layered forms on a wide open field. Sam Francis lets thin colour washes spread and leave gaps between them. The brush moves across the paper in long passes. Some areas stay thin and some build up with more pigment.

This fine art print arrives ready to hang with a metal hanger fitted to the back. It goes straight onto a nail or screw on the wall. There is no separate frame to buy. The surface is matte so the light areas stay soft and do not shine back under a lamp.

It sits on a wall in a study above a desk near a small lamp. From the desk you notice the open white spaces between the painted areas. When you sit down to read you see how the colour breaks into separate bands.

Information

Frequently asked

Yes — this Fine Art piece comes framed and arrives ready to hang. It is printed with our 12-color fine art technology on smooth matte paper (200 gsm), protected by shatterproof plexiglass, and set in a durable pine wood frame. A hanging kit is included, so you can put it straight on the wall.

Our 12-color fine art printing technology delivers vivid, accurate colors with real depth, far beyond standard 4-color inkjet printing. The print is on smooth matte paper (200 gsm, 0.26 mm thick) that gives a clean, glare-free display, and it sits behind shatterproof plexiglass in a durable pine wood frame (20 mm thick, 10 to 14 mm wide). The paper and wood are FSC-certified. Every piece is printed and shipped on demand, so there is no minimum order and every order is fresh.
