All Red — Fine Art

All Red by Sam Francis sets a bright red field against a pale ground. A broad brush sweep crosses the sheet with a soft edge and a thin darker stroke at the end. The paint sits with a textured surface where the brush moved quickly.

This fine art print uses a matte paper that keeps the red from glaring and the pale ground from looking chalky. A light frame on a dark wall lets the red hold its own, while a dark frame on a pale wall gives the sweep a clearer edge.

It hangs at eye level on a bedroom wall that gets soft morning light. From across the room the red field reads as a single block, and up close you can follow the brush sweep to its thin tail.
