Composition

Composition - 1957 sits on a pale ground with shapes built from painted colour. Walasse Ting used colour field painting to lay flat tone shapes across the sheet.

The painted colour band field reads as a measured layout of rectangular colour blocks. The shapes stay open and the gaps between marks stay clear.

The fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel so the image stays flat against the wall. The frame holds the print in place. You notice the painted colour band field from the dining room wall picture where the flat tone shapes sit against the room light.
