About this work
Composition 1964 by Luis Feito uses strong contrasts between red and black on a light ground. Broad painted shapes sit near the edges, leaving open space in the middle. This approach comes from the abstract painting practice Feito followed. The red and black do not blend. Each colour keeps its own edge.
A metal hanger is fixed to the back of this fine art print, so it hangs straight on a nail or screw. No separate frame is needed. The matte paper keeps the red and black tones flat, without a shine that would distract from the painted shapes.
In a hallway with one bare bulb, the print sits on a pale plaster wall. From the far end you see the red shape first, then the black band next to it. The narrow step makes the contrast clearer.
