Composition — Fine Art

Composition - 1980 is a field of soft paint with a few broken lines laid across it. Bram van Velde worked in a loose abstract style with thin washes and quick strokes. The paint does not cover the sheet fully. You see where the brush lifted and where it dragged.

This fine art print keeps those paint layers visible because the paper has a matte surface. A white frame gives the image a clean border and lets the soft greys stay open. The wood finish keeps the edge simple against the painted field.

It sits on a hallway wall near the stairs. From the landing you notice the broken lines first, then the empty parts of the sheet. The paint reads as a slow passage rather than a full block of colour.
