Concept Spatiale — Fine Art

Thin cuts run across a dark ground in Concept Spatiale - Spatialism. The lines break the surface and make the space behind the paint feel open. Lucio Fontana worked with these cuts as a way to reach past the flat sheet.

The fine art print uses matte paper, so the dark ground stays even and the cuts keep their sharp edge without shine. A dark frame on a pale wall lets the cuts stand out, or a light frame on a dark wall keeps the field calm.

On a stairwell wall, you see the cuts from the landing first, then the dark tone fills in as you step up. The narrow cuts lead the eye upward along the steps. By the time you reach the top, the cuts are clear and the space behind them feels quiet.
