Decent — Fine Art

The print Decent shows a pale field with washes of colour that leave much of the paper open. Broad sweeps move across the sheet and the eye rests in the empty parts. Sam Francis built his work from colour and space, and this image keeps that balance.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The paper sits flat inside the frame and the back panel holds it steady. You see the washes without gloss under a lamp, and the frame keeps the sheet square on the wall.

Hang it on a light wall above a plain sofa, with the centre of the frame at eye level. From a few steps away you read the broad colour shapes, and closer you notice the small runs of paint left on the paper.
