Loon — Fine Art

Loon by Sam Gilliam looks at a bird in a way that follows the artist practice of colour and shape. The image uses broad colour bands and soft edges, the same move seen in his larger canvases. You see a bird form built from washes rather than a detailed drawing, and the title says what it is.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The paper is matte, so the colour stays flat and there is no shine when the light hits it.

It works on a hallway wall where the light is steady and the view is short. From the far end you see the colour bands, and from the middle you notice the softer tone shifts inside each band.
