Surface Veil

Surface Veil by Robert Ryman reads as a quiet field of pale tone and faint edges. From a distance the surface looks even, with barely there shifts across it. Stand nearer and the hand shows through, in small changes that stay close to the same place.

This fine art print sits inside a frame with a back panel, so the sheet is held flat and the edges stay covered. The matte surface keeps the soft greys from turning bright under a lamp.

In a hallway with a single light overhead, the pale tone stays soft and the small changes show only when you pass by.

As a guide: 40×50 cm suits a desk or small wall, 50×70 cm sits well above a sofa or bed, and 70×100 cm anchors a room as a focal piece. If you'd like advice for your space, send us your dimensions and we'll recommend a size.

For your country, this piece is estimated at 5 to 8 business days from the moment you order, including production, with free tracked delivery. Every piece is made to order by the print partner closest to you; framed pieces take a little longer because each one is framed and checked before dispatch. These are estimates, and there is no express option. Full country-by-country ranges are on our estimated delivery times page, and you can see exactly how your piece is packed.

If your piece arrives damaged, defective, or isn't what you ordered, email us within 7 days of delivery with photos and your order number, and keep all packaging. We will send a free replacement at no cost to you. See our refund policy for the full process.
