About this work
Les Ruines a Crozant - 1897 shows broken stone walls and a quiet stretch of ground near the Crozant cliffs. Armand Guillaumin painted these ruins with broad strokes and a strong green and blue tone. The scene sits within his later landscape work, where he studied rock and river edges.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black and gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. A white frame keeps the green tones open, while a dark wood frame pulls the stone shapes forward.
On a bedroom wall you notice the rough painted lines first, then the soft colour shifts in the corner that faces the street. The dark outlines hold their shape even when the room is dim.
