About this work
Sprayed Picture - 1964 works from several metres away as a flat band of sprayed paint laid on a plain ground. The sprayed edge reads soft, while the centre stays even, so the picture reads as one quiet plane.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. Charlotte Posenenske built the surface with sprayed paint, a method tied to concrete art and postwar geometric work. The metal hanger on the back slips onto a nail or screw so the sheet goes up straight on the wall without a frame.
You can mount the print in one step. It holds its place on the wall above a built in desk in a study, where the soft edge meets the wall and the desk line breaks the middle of the sheet.
