About this work
Harlequin - 1984 opens on a plain field split by angled colour bands. The eye moves from one block to the next, with open space between them. Doug Ohlson built this plane of flat colour in his abstract painting practice.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The matte paper keeps the colour tones steady without shine under a lamp. A metal hanger is fitted to the back, so it goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame is needed.
It sits on a hallway wall where the angled bands catch the light from a side window. You notice the plain gaps between the colour when you walk past.
