Hauser Werth — Fine Art

Hauser Werth shows a hard wooden beam or plank bent into a simple shape on a plain surface. The work follows the relief sculpture practice Eva Hesse built from repeated forms and plain materials.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The object stays close to the picture plane and the edge reads as a cut shape. The white frame gives Hauser Werth a clean line against that edge and the wood tone of the frame stays separate from the painted surface.

The piece works on a bedroom wall near a low bed. From the foot of the bed you see the bent shape across the top of the frame. You notice the flat tone and the plain line first.
