Blue Territory by Helen Frankenthaler uses broad colour washes on a flat ground. The blue runs across the sheet and leaves some open areas.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. Up close the edges of the colour look soft and uneven. From across the room the blue reads as a single wide field. The white frame gives the picture a clean edge on the wall and keeps the outline of the image clear.

On a plain bedroom wall the blue field stands out against the paint. From the foot of the bed you see the whole blue area. Step closer and the uneven edges come into view.
