Carandirú

Carandirú - 2002 shows a dark field with thin white lines that cross and break. The shapes read as figures standing apart on a wide plain. From the far side of a room you see the open space first. Up close the pencil marks show their roughness.

This fine art print uses a frame finish that can follow the room. A light frame on a dark wall keeps the white lines clear. A dark frame on a pale wall makes the field feel deeper.

Hang it on a hallway wall where the light is soft and even. From the stairwell you notice the empty space between the figures. The white lines stay sharp and the dark ground stays quiet.
