Lepanto, Part IV — Fine Art

A broad sweep of paint moves across the sheet in Lepanto, Part IV. The blue runs with breaks and lighter streaks, leaving room for the white ground to show through. The paint sits thick in places and thinner where it pulls apart.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The paper is matte, so the blue stays flat and the white areas stay bright under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall lets the blue read clearly, while a dark frame on a pale wall separates the marks from the wall.

On a long wall above a low shelf, the blue band reads from the doorway and the broken edges come into view from closer up. The eye follows the sweep across the surface and stops at the thinner gaps where the ground shows through.
