About this work
Panel of Ceramic Tiles Designed by Morris and Produced by William de Morgan 1876 shows a repeating tile pattern with botanical shapes, painted in palette knife lines and glazed colours from the Arts and Crafts movement. William Morris worked with Morris and Company to make these tiles for indoor walls.
The print is a fine art reproduction set in a frame with a back panel. You can see the tile edges clearly against the smooth paper.
The frame holds the picture flat on the wall. This works above a kitchen counter where the glazed colours read well in daytime light. From the cooking area you notice the plant forms first, and from the table you see the tile lines.
