Spirit Grove — Fine Art

In Spirit Grove, Eyvind Earle uses long upright forms against a quiet field. The surface divides into bands of blue, green and brown. Each band meets the next at a hard line. The marks stay simple and the colours sit side by side without blending.

The fine art print runs on matte paper, so the blue and green bands stay even and there is no shine under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall lets the upright forms read clearly, and a dark frame on a pale wall keeps the darker bands steady.

Hang it above a long sofa with a plain side wall behind. From the sofa you see the rows of upright marks at a glance. From the doorway you notice the blue band first, then the green band below it.
