Stripes — Fine Art

Stripes - 1957 by Gene Davis shows painted colour bands running the full width of the sheet. Each band is cut with a hard edge and the hues step across the image in one direction. The work belongs to the colour field painting practice where flat bands carry the whole picture.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The frame finishes in white, wood, dark wood or black and gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. A white frame keeps the band edges separate from the room trim.

It works on the wall beside the reading chair in a study. From the desk you see the band widths line up, and the light on the page stays soft on the paper.
